February 2019 Festivals and Things to Do

I think when February swings around, you can finally stop greeting people with ‘Happy new year’ when you encounter them for the first time in 2019, unless you’re greeting them ‘Happy Luna New Year!’ of course. But here are my top things to do in Ol’ Sydney Town for the month of Feb!

Watch the Super Bowl in Sydney- Mon 4 Feb

The Morrison Bar & Oyster Room, 225 George Street, Sydney

You’ll have to take an annual leave day to be a part of this one, but you can join ¾ of the United States and the couple of thousand Aussie Gridiron fans to watch Super Bowl 53 Live! But if you’re one of the faithful (or just wanting to get involved in one of the largest Spectacle of the year) head on down to the Morrison’s for an American breakfast and lunch while cheering on the Patriots and the Rams! Doors open 9am for breakfast (kick-off at 10.30am). FREE entry but booking is essential.

Don’t spend Valentine’s Day 2019 alone! Join all the playful singles of Sydney at the Cargo Bar for a single’s night out! $10 will gain you entry plus 2 complementary drinks! Do the math, at worse you’re $2 better-off if you end up with both drinks; or maybe you’ll find Mr/Ms Right to give your second drink vouchy to! Hey Hey? 7pm till Late. Show those boring couples how the Singles par-tay!

Summer Night Market 2019- Fri 15 Feb

Carriageworks, 245 Wilson Street, Eveleigh

Curated in 2019 by celebrity chef Kylie Kwong, the Summer Night Markets will feature 60 stores made up of Australia’s best producers and hatted chefs! Expect locally sourced dishes, live music, and cooking demos. 5pm to 10pm, $10 entry for adults, children under the age of 12 and accompanied by their parents go FREE!

Luna New Year Twilight Parade- Sat 16 Feb

91 Archer St, Chatswood

For the very first time, Chatswood will play host to the Luna New Year Twilight Parade- drumming out from Chatswood Interchange, Lion-dancing their way through Chatswood Mall, before oinking down Victoria Avenue to Bertram Street. Line the path with your kids and welcome in the year of the Pig with sound and colour! Parade starts at 6pm and afterwards grab a bite at one of the many many Asian restaurants in the area. The cost to take part is FREE, unless you really want to ‘take part’, they’re still accepting registrations for community and friendship groups to be a part of the floats! Hey babe! Let’s get the Chinese Poem Reciting Group back together again for one last recital!?
