It’s going to take a couple of days to get used to seeing 2019 written in all the date fields, but here are my top 5 Festivals and things to do in Sydney for the month of January!
Night Owls Kids Film Festival- Fri 4 – Sun 20 January, 2019.
Darling Quarter Village Green, 1-25 Harbour Street, Sydney NSW
17 nights of free outdoor live music, short films and 2 movie screenings. Movies air each night at 6pm (Family friendly films like Coco, Paddington 2, Lego Ninjago movie, Peter Rabbit, or Jumanji: Welcome to the jungle). While the 8.30pm screening will be more for the ‘big-kids’ e.g. Star Wars the Last Jedi, Thor: Ragnarok, Oceans 8, Pitch Perfect 3, Black Panther etc.
Cost: FREE. Food can be obtained from nearby restaurants, and best in best dressed to get the best patch of grass to see the screen.

Cockle Bay Wharf Pedal Boats- Fri 4 – Mon 28 January, 2019
The Promenade Cockle Bay Warf, 201 Sussex Street Sydney NSW
Picturing yourself paddling in a paddle boat like in the film ’10 Things I hate about you?’ Live out the fantasy and head on down to Cockle bay!
11am to 8pm, book a pedal boat (first come first served) and you and 3 others can pedal around Darling Harbour! **Note: Pedal boats have a canopy for shade and lifejackets for your safety.
Cost: $30 for a family of 4.

Sydney International Tennis- Sun 6 – Sat 12 January, 2019
Sydney Olympic Park, 2 Rod Laver Drive, Sydney Olympic Park NSW
World class Tennis stars including Australia’s own top ranked players, 8 Grand Slam champions, 8 of the top 10 female players and many many young guns will be serving it up at SIT. Expect family fun, music and a whole lot of sweat (the player’s, not yours).
Cost: Adults, various costs. Kids, go free during all sessions (except for finals day on Sat 12 Jan).

Inner West Fiesta- Sun 20 January 2019
Sydney Portugal Club, 100 Marrickville Road, Marrickville NSW
A full day community festival to celebrate Latin America’s fiery culture! Expect dancing, music, food and art/craft stalls.
Cost: Adults $10 (if tickets are purchased online) or $15 at the door. Kids $5 or FREE if under the age of 6.

Rozelle Collectors Markets- Sat & Sun all year round
Grounds of Rozelle Public School, 663 Darling Street, Rozelle NSW
A Picker’s dream! A Minimalist’s nightmare! An open air antique, collectables, fashion, art and jewellery market. Expect stalls filled with pre-loved wares, local musicians and food stalls.
Cost: Free entry but bring your money purse (ain’t no pay-wave here). 9am – 3pm.
